A valid serve is a serve that took place when the cow or heifer was likely to be truly in heat.
The importance of a valid serves is that these are the serves where cows or heifers have the best chance of becoming pregnant. The heat detected was accurate.
Your target to date:
Your target to date is the target number of valid serves that should be completed at that stage of the breeding season.
Total serves:
Total serves is the total number of valid and invalid serves that have been recorded at that stage of the breeding season.
Invalid serves:
Invalid serves is a serve that took place when the cow or heifer was not likely to be truly in heat.
For example:
If a cow is served 3 times, ( day1, day 10 and day 21), the serve on day 10 is invalid and the serves on day 1 and day 21 are valid. This is because a cow is on heat every 18-24 days.
How to use these numbers.
If you are behind target for valid serves you are not detecting enough heats or cows or heifers are not coming in heat. If you have excessive invalid serves it indicates there is poor heat detection accuracy.
